What Is Proposition 65?
California's Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986 (Proposition 65) requires businesses to provide warnings to California consumers about significant exposures to chemicals that are known to the State of California to cause cancer, birth defects, or other reproductive harm.
The State of California maintains a list of hundreds of chemicals subject to Proposition 65 requirements. These chemicals may be found in products, packaging materials, fuels, combustion byproducts, manufacturing materials, and various consumer goods.
Why Am I Receiving This Warning?
Many products sold in the outdoor cooking, grilling, heating, and home improvement industries contain components, materials, or combustion byproducts that may expose users to one or more chemicals included on California's Proposition 65 list.
As a result, manufacturers may provide Proposition 65 warnings for their products to comply with California law.
